A BRIEF HISTORY
BOOK CHEVY 6 here!
Chevy 6 was formed in April of 1974. Started with the premise that oldies were the best thing to party to, Chevy 6 has weathered the storm of every musical phase, and continued to plow away at it, oblivious to all around them.
Ben Burford, lead singer is the original and founding member. Ben (or "Benje" as he is also known) works with DavisDenny, an Alabama advertising company. In addition, his fine art, signed "Burf", is drawing both critical acclaim and a good deal of gawking. Ben is also a hack actor, having appeared in local and national commercials, on stage, and even in the movie Mississippi Masala with Denzel Washington. Ben's time on screen clocked in at one minute and 50 seconds. He's married with two kids.
Ken
Murray is the second oldest member of the group, starting
in the summer of 1976. Ken hails from Daleville, in
the wiregrass area of Alabama. His life outside of Chevy
6 finds him in the Faunsdale area. Ken is single.
Roe Collins is drummer for Chevy 6. He joined the band
in 1979. Roe is from Demopolis, Alabama. Outside of
Chevy 6, Roe is a real estate magnate in Orange Beach, AL. When
there's time (and there is time), Roe will spend
it with his wife and three kids.
During the 34 years of existence, Chevy 6 has played for a massive array of events. From appearances on CBS's "30 Minutes" at an orgiastic fraternity party, to 3,000 tie-and-tails attendees at a Rhode Island wedding soiree, to conventions, conferences and reunions aplenty, to the deck of the USS Alabama, to the deck of the steamboat Robert E. Lee, to Washington, D.C. for the "Taste of the South" festival, to Birmingham's City Stages festival, to Gulf Shores' Shrimp Festival, giant pep rallies at the University of Alabama for losing games to Tennessee and Auburn, to the stages of some of the finest and funnest clubs in the south, to a huge fertilizer barn in Faunsdale, Alabama. . .Chevy 6 plies their trade wherever it needs plying.
